Manuel with Big Al Two |
During the summer of 2006, Kirby Siber,
Director of the Saurier
Museum in Aathal, Zurich, Switzerland, displayed several of his
Howe-Stephens Quarry dinosaur mounts at DINORAMA 2006 in Shell, Wyoming,
including “Big Al Two”, the most complete Allosaurus specimen in
existence. Kirby's team of paleontologists collected these specimens from the
world-famous Howe Dinosaur Quarry site near Shell, Wyoming. This is the first time this collection was
displayed in North America, after being seen by over two million viewers in
exhibits in Europe and Japan. The purpose of
this exhibit was to emphasize the need for the proposed Bighorn Basin
GeoScience Center in the Bighorn Basin of Wyoming so that we can conserve and
display our natural resources in an appropriate setting. |

Several thousand visitors braved a heat wave to see the
exhibits and meet and talk to Kirby Siber and his friend of many years, Peter
Larson, owner of the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research. Many thanks to Dirty Annie's in Shell for hosting our exhibit! Our thanks also to Aart Walen,
of Creatures and Features in the Netherlands, whose assistance with
setting up the exhibits was invaluable! Not bad for a little community with a
population of 50! Cliff Manuel CONTACT Cliff
